मैं कौन हूं

Who I Am

I'm an investigative reporter from Charlotte, North Carolina. I grew up in a household that emphasized community service - whether it was through volunteering at the hospital, donating to the local shelter or helping those in need - my culture taught me that a good life is lived in service of others.

Journalism Philosophy

English is my second language and I needed a tutor for years before I was considered "on par" with my peers. Journalism was the last thing I thought I would be doing. Yet, I am pursuing a double major in Economics and Media and Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Reporting in college made me realize that journalism is indeed one of the highest forms of public service.

Reporting on people from all walks of life taught me my experiences as a South Asian woman make me a stronger journalist. My identity and bilingualism allow me to better serve local communities and those who are overlooked.

In Search of Truth

In addition to service, though, journalism is a powerful conduit for accountability. If you're in search of a journalist who will cover your PR stint or use pretty words to disguise your malfeasance, look elsewhere. My obligation is to writer the truth and my duty is to seek it.
